Following the regular January Sharpsburg City Council meeting on Monday, Jan. 6, Mayor Dorothy Clemens and City Clerk Rob Lane invited council membera  end: guests down the road for a quick tour of the Sherlm-i burg Community Center. Construction on the building, which got under Wly in, April 2013, is completed, and work has begun on Ihe room housing a branch of the Bath County Memodld- Library, named after Nell C. Cunningham as well u on the classroom to be used by Maysvllle Community I and Technical College. The gym, named after Sharpsburg school teacher, pd; cipal and coach, Julian B. Cunningham, is built from.: the same four stone walls as the original school&apos;s gym- nasium and Includes replicas of advertising originally painted on the gym walls. The gym also Includes a ' stage area that is expected to be completed at a later: date. Public Notice Bath County Property Notice Listing Period January 1, 2014 through March 1, 2014 is the listing period for Real Property and January 1, 2014 through May 15, 2014 for Tangible Property. Real Property Additions/Deletions Any taxpayer who has made physical changes to or added new property would need to report this to the Property Valuation Administrator's Office. Likewise, any property which has suffered damage or has been removed would need to be reported, q-hese are changes which wold have occurred between January 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014. Address Correction Anyone who has not submitted a change of address form with their 2013 Prop- erty Tax Bills or, has a PO Box not listed on their 2013 Property Tax Bills would need to report this Address Correction. Please keep in mind that tax bills for the current year (mailed around the first of November 2014) will be mailed to the January 1, 2014 property owner who is liable for the taxes regardless of whether the property has been sold, transferred, destroyed or otherwise disposed of. Homestead Exemption Any person who turned 65 years of age in 2013 or will be 65 years of age in 2014 that has title to, lives in, and maintains their personal residence would need to stop by the Property Valuation Office or call to sign up for their Homestead Ex- emption. If you have already signed up there is no need to call or fill out another application. Disability: If you are receiving benefits for total disability from a United States Government agency or the Railroad Retirement System you may be entitled to receive an exemption. You must have maintained the disability classi- fication for the entire year, provide documentation and complete the application provided by my office. Tangible Property All individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other business entities own- ing, leasing or having a beneficial interest in taxable tangible property which is located in Kentucky on January 1 must file a Tangible Property Tax Return. This would include items such as Manufacturing Machinery, Office Equipment, Inven- tory, ets. Forms may be obtained from our website at www.qpublic.net/ky/bath. Additional information that may effect you. As your PVA I am required by law to inspect one-fourth of the county each year. This process is an effort to ensure fair ad equal assessments for the county as a whole. The areas to be inspected for tax years 2014 will include Pebble, Oakley, East Fork, South Sherburne, Reynoldsville, Wyoming., Slate Valley, Peasticks, and Moores Ferrt. The last inspection for this area was done in 2010. The process may include the following: picture, exterior measurements, characteristics of improve- ments and land characteristics.
