son home after an extend—
ed illness. Born September
3,1936 in Pomeroyton,KY
to the late Denny Ray
Hughes and Ada Evadna
Denniston Hughes. He
was a retired farmer. Be-
sides his parents, he was
preceded in death by two
brothers Carl and Cletis
Hughes and sister Edith
Arnett. Surviving is his son
Slade Fetters and brother
Kenneth Hughes both of
Russellville, Ohio. Funeral
services were at 1:00pm,
Tuesday, February 2,2021
Byrd officiating. Burial
followed in the Denniston
Cemetery, Wellington,KY.
Pallbearers were friends.
Visitation was at Noon,
Tuesday at Menifee Home

Christine Manley Whit-
ton, 90, of Mt Sterling,
Kentucky, passed away
Thursday, January 28,
at Windsor Care Center in
Mt. Sterling. She was born
on January 1, 1931 in Bath
County, Kentucky, to the
late Clay Lewis Manley
and Nannie Staton Manley.
Christine was a creative,
accomplished, thoughtful
and loving woman. She
devoted many hours to
her wonderful cooking,
sewing and taking care
of her family She was a
member of the Slate Valley
Christian Church and she
also attended the Preston
First-Church of r...

dition to her parents and
her husband, she was
preceded in death by one
brother, Jean Manley and
one half-sister, Alice Cray-
craft. Survivors include
her daughter, Teresa Long
and her husband, Jerry of
Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, her
grandson Jerrod Jameson
Long of Louisville, Ken-
tucky and several nieces
and nephews. Funeral ser-
vices were conducted at
2:00 PM. Saturday, Janu-
ary 30, in the chapel
of the Michael R .Gray Fu-
neral Home in Owingsville
with Rev. Terry Frerichs
and Rev. Lowell Rice of-
ficiating. Burial was in the
Slate Valley Cemetery.
Visitation was after 12:00
PM. Saturday at the funer-
al home. Pallbearers were
Gary Staton, Woody Sta-
ton, Johnny Whitton, Omar
Heath, Tony Whitton and
Jed Staton. The Michael

PHILLIP “TODD” GREEN
Phillip "Todd" Green, 56, of
Owingsville, Kentucky, passed
away suddenly Wednesday,
January 27, at St. Claire
Regional Medical Center in
Morehead, Kentucky. He was
born on January 5, 1965 in Mt.
Sterling, Kentucky, to the late
Asa Lewis Green and Irene
Parks Green Wills. Todd
worked at Custom Foods in
Owingsville. He enjoyed rid-
ing his motorcycle, tinker—
ing with engines and spend-
ing time with his family and
friends. Survivors include his
companion, Jenia Dixon, one
son, Benjamin Green (Brit—
tany) and grandson, Noah
Wayne Benson L. Green all
of Clearfield, Kentucky, one
brother Jeff Green (Joyce) of
Frenchburg, Kentucky and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were con-
ducted at 1:00 RM. Sunday,
January 31, in the chapel
of the Michael R. Gray Funeral
Home in Owingsville with Rev.
Lowell Rice officiating. Burial
was in the Kendall Springs
Cemetery. Visitation was from
6 PM. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at
the funeral home. Pallbearers
were Benjamin Green, Chris
Maness, Taylor Davidson, J us-
tin Maness, Tim Parks, Bed-
ford Carpenter and Roger "Jr."

DORIS ANN LANE
Doris Ann Lane, 92, Sharps-
burg, widow of J.W. Lane died
peacefully January 30, at
her home on the family farm.
She was born May 5, to
the late Eli and Mary McClure
Roberts of Sherburne, KY. She
was a 1945 graduate of Fleming
Co. High School and attended
Fugazzi Business College. She
worked briefly in her father‘s
grocery in Sharpsburg be-
fore becoming a farmer’s wife,
mother of three, grandmother
of two, and great grandmother
of two. She was a faithful mem-
ber of the Sharpsburg Christian
Church for 75 yearsrln additio
death by a son,
a brother William E. Roberts, a
sister-in-law Betty Roberts, and
a nephew Warren T. Roberts.
She is survived by a son James
R Lane, a daughter, Mary Beth
Lane, all of Sharpsburg. She is
also survived by two grandchil-
dren, Eric P. Lane (Audrey),
Sharpsburg, Kayla B. lane, Lex-
ington, two great—grandsons, Eli
P. Lane and Hudson T. Lane, a
nephew, Rocky Roberts and a
dear friend, Sue Calvert The
family wishes to thank Rosie
McDonald and Judy Blanken-
ship for their compassionate
care during her final days. Visi-
tation was after 11:00 AM Tues-
day, February at the
Sharpsburg Christian Church,
funeral services followed at
1:00 PM. Burial was in Crown
Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Eric lane, Austin Allison, Tim-
my Darnall, Mark Allison, Steve
Calvert and Bobby Price. Hon-

JAMES ALFRED “JIMMY” HESS
James Alfred “Jimmy”
Hess, 83 of Glennville,
Georgia formerly of
Frenchburg, KY went
home to be with the Lord
Saturday, January 23,
He was born Octo-
ber 6, 1937 in Pikeville, KY '
to the late Virgil and Lurcy
Layne Hess. Jimmy was a
retired coal miner, for-
mer owner of Frenchburg
Gas and Produce, and the
owner operator of a farm
for many years on Corner
Ridge where he enjoyed
hosting horse shows, visit-
ing with his grandchildren
and riding horses with
family and friends. In his
retirement years, Jimmy
moved to Georgia where
he enjoyed spending time
with his much-loved wife
Mary andsitting on the
porch in the warm weath-
er of his new home. Jimmy
was of the Old Regular
Baptist Faith. His faith in
Jesus as Savior over the
years has served as an
example to all who knew
him. He never failed to say
that his hope of heaven
was in Jesus and His death
on the cross for the sins
of all. He encouraged all
his family and friends who
loved him not to worry
about him if he “left here”.
His faith was like that of
a child...fully trusting in
his Heavenly Father. On
January 25, 1996, Jimmy’s
beloved wife Ernestine
preceded him in death.
They have two surviving
sons, James Harold (Lisa)
Hess 0f Pikeville, KY and
Darrell Gene (Angie)
Hess of Frenchburg, KY.
Jimmy was also preceded
in death by four siblings
including Geraldine Hess
(infant), Junis Hess, Ray
Elmer Hess, and Imal Sue
Hess Justice. Jimmy is
survived by his loving wife

VA. Jimmy was blessed to
have the love of his surviv-
ing grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and 5
great-great grandchildren,
which he shared with his
wife Mary. In addition, he
leaves behind a host of ex-
tended family and friends
who love and will miss him
greatly.

1:00pm, Wednesday, J anu-
ary at Menifee
