The 2010 GAP Confer- ence for Grandparents and Relatives Raising Children will be Thurs- day, March 25, 2010, 8:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. at the Holiday Inn North, Lex- ington. The GAP Con- ference is for grandpar- ents/relatives as well as professionals. Fourteen workshops will be offered, and featured speakers in- clude: Pat Owens, grand- parent and co-founder/ CEO of GrandFamilies of America, and Genera- tions United from Wash- ington, D.C. Registration includes continental breakfast and lunch--S5 for grand- parents/relatives, $35 for professionals. Social Work and Legal Continu- ing Education Credits will be offered. Gifted students inter- ested in attending the Summer- Camp for Aca- demically Talented Stu- dents (SCATS) may pick up an application from Mrs. Bloomfield. The camp is from June 13-June 25 in Western Kentucky University. The .cost of the camp is $1400, however finan- cial aid is available to those who qualify. The deadline to apply is April 15th. At registration, each child will be provided with a free developmental screening. This screening will take approximately an hour to complete so parents should make sure that their children have been fed and have rested properly prior to registration. If your child is currently attending Preschool or Head Start you do not have to bring the child to this registration. The Preschool and Head Start students are automatically enrolled in Kindergarten. Please bring the following pieces of information to, registration: 1. your child's Social Security card 2. your child's official birth certificate with seal 3. your child's immunization record 4. proof of income (W-2s or last year's tax forms preferred) 5. physical 6. eye examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist If the above pieces of information are not available on registration day, they MUST be provided before the child can enter Kindergarten.
