The Slate Valley Christian Church held a day-long celebration for breaking ground on their new fellowship hall
this past Sunday. Mike Gray provided special singing during the morning service followed by local Pastor
Chuck Lees, who announced his final sermon during the service. Church members had dinner on the ground
after morning services, followed by music and singing by the River's Edge and a few words from former Pastor
Wayne Meese, who led the church from 1957-1962 and who told those gathered, quoting from Nehemiah, "Let
us rise up and build." Church board members ceremonially broke ground on the 1700 square foot addition,.
followed by more special singing from Paul Barber and Slate Valley Pastor Greg Whig. Whitt said that about
130 people attended the service.

The Bath County High School Band Boosters held a
Spring Vendor Fair on March 25, 2017 in the Bath
County High School Gym. A silent auction along with
vendors selling household items, quilts, books, hand-
made crafts, jewelry, and wreaths were in attendance.
