Special Kids Camp held their 5th annual fundraiser dinner and auction Saturday evening at the
Ramsay Building in Owingsvillo. Numerous items and gift certificates were donated by local
businesses and individuals, and the benefit raised over $4000.
Ralpha Harvey, Camp Coordinator, wants to remlnd everyone that thls year's camp begins the
week of July 8 and will be held at Bath County Mlddle School. She encourages people to visit
the Special Kids Camp webslte at www.speclalkldscamp.org for information about the program
as well as to download applications for volunteers and for campers.
Special Kids Camp has been around since 1991 and has served individuals with special needs
all across Eastern Kentucky. The five day camp is completely free for campers and is supported
through donations from businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals.
Spirit University is two
days away, and organiz-
ers David Smith and
Gary Hale invite church
youth groups from all
around the region to at-
tend.
Sponsored by the Ko-
rea Church of God in
Wellington, this first an-
nual Spirit University
aims to energize church
youth groups and leader-
ship and to help attract
more young people to
God's love.
The day will be filled
with seminars and speak-
ers and will take place in
Duncan Recital Hall in
Bhird Music Hall on the
MSU campus. Topics at
the conference will range
from youth group build-
ing, youth ministry and
mission, teens and rela-
tionships, and Christ-like
leadership.
The day's activities will
be capped off with a con-
cert by Grammy Award-
winning Christian rock
group Newsboys.
Newsboys has been on
the Christian rock music
scene for over 20 years,
garnering numerous
Dove Awards, Grammy
nominations, and seven
gold albums. Former
DC Talk member Mi-
chael Talt has been on
lead vocals for the band
for the last three years,
which originally hailed
from Australia in the lat-
er 1980s. They are well-
known for their high en-
ergy live shows, and they
are touring in support of
their new album "God Is
Not Dead."
