Call 606-336-1672 Dear Editor, Once again parents, grandparents and fam- ily were no-shows at the i Board of Education and site-based meetings Mid- dle school board was very surprised to see anyone at all and they were super nice and want me to come back again. One person is not enough support to put the board into super quick ac- tion. Walk-through metal detectors are a one-time paid up-front deal. Re- source officers are a yearly paid deal with benefits. "Go figure." We want the weapons stopped at the front door not dealing with the problem after they are already inside the school and being a threat or even a death. The "not so well used hand-held detectors" could be used at the doors for the drop-off kids by maintenance people and others who are on the pay- roll already. Apparently, there was no pleading with families to go to support a football auction. I agree that they do need safer helmets to prevent "some brain injuries and concus- sions" not so much bro- ken bones, ribs, damaged spines, or possibly ending up in a wheelchair for life. The same support should be for the safety "inside" of the schools. The school's menus should be planned out by the students in a healthy manner. There needs to be more "organic foods" served. Also, most of the foods are just fillers and are full of chemicals. Instead of golf and bass fishing there needs to be more classes on cook- ing, taking care of homes, teaching more on relation- ships with peers, families, pre-baby classes, Bible classes, etc. School bands are mostly for sports not much of a future in this. Come on people get your heads out of the sand. Sup- port the schools but most of all "keep our children safer."
