Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep you and your family safe, the national seat belt cam- paign will take place May 22 through June 4, concur- rent with one of the busiest travel and holiday week- ends of the year. "Our law enforcement personnel see firsthand the loss of life when people refuse to buckle up," said Asst. Chief John Suther- land. Officers with the Ow- ingsville Police Depart- ment will be out in the city and the county during this period to enforcement seat belt and other traffic laws. Of the 834 highway fa- talities last year in Ken- tucky, 50.9 percent were not wearing a seat belt. "Did you know someone who was killed in a crash because they didn't buckle up," asked Sutherland. "Please help us spread this life-saving message before one more friend or family member is killed as a re- sult of this senseless inac- tion. Seat belts save lives, and everyone - front seat and back, child and ad/dt - needs to remember to buckle up, every trip, ev- ery time." Statistics from the Na- tional Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicate that seat belts, when worn correctly, reduce the risk by 45 per- cent for front-seat vehicle occupants and by 60 per- al on The Menifee County Fiscal Court wilt accept sealed bids for the following for the year July 1, 2018 through June 3, 2019: 1.
