The Bath County News-Outlook Thursday, July 6, 2006 Royia Varandi Carpenter Royia Carpenter receives Regents Scholarship from MSU Morehead State University has announced that Royia Varandi Carpenter of Preston is among the students receiving a Regents Scholarship for the 2006-07 school year. Royia is a graduate of Bath County High School and listed on the Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Verna Carpenter. To be eligible for a Regents Scholarship at MSU, a student must have a minimum ACT composite score of 20. Valued at $2,500 per year, a Regents Scholarship is renewable for up to four years if the recipient maintains the required grade point average. Sarah is the daughter of Dana and Gerald Trimmer. To be eligible for a Commonwealth Scholarship at MSU, a student must have supe- rior grades and ACT test scores. Valued at full in-state tuition, a Commonwealth Scholarship is renewable for up to four years if the recipient maintains the required grade point average. Carrie Sparks receives employee of month award Carrie Sparks has been voted as employee of the month for April. Carrie has also been a Licensed Practical Nurse since 1995 she has been employed at Hilltop since 2003. Carrie is 30 years old and is originally from Pike County. She is married to Eric Sparks and they have 2 children, Laken 7, and Brandon 10 months. They live in Blevins Valley. Carrie is very good at working with the staff and she is very kind with all residents. Her hobbies are being outside and spending time with her children. Deborah Jackson receives employee of the month Deborah Jacksom was voted employee of the month in the dietary department. She has been employeed at Hilltop Nursing and Rehabilitation for 2 years. Deb was born and raised in Owingsville and has 2 children, Chaney 25 years old and Brian 35 years old, she also has 1 grand- daughter Paige 13 years old. Deborah is very cheerful person. She always .has a smile for resi- dents and is very cooperative with - the other staff. She enjoys cook- ing, cleaning and going shopping when she visits her daughter in Lexington. Those in attendance were: Bryan Royse of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Kathy Royse of Converse, Indiana; Lenora Otis of Marion, Indiana; Phyllis Watkins of Dayton, and Greg and Athonia Miller of Lexington, Kentucky; Benton; Glenda, and Kyle Conley of Morehead, Kentucky; Bobby Donathan, Bertha Patrick, Randy, Sonja, and Hunter McCarty, Travis, Crystal, Alex, and Zachary Fields, Marjorie Zegelien, Donna and Holly Leslie Perry to begin Doctor of Physical Therapy Leslie Perry has recently been accepted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Kentucky. The UK program has been produc- ing physical therapists since 1967 and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Physical Therapy Association. UK'S Physical Therapy program is offered at the Lexington and Hazard campuses. Acceptance to the DPT pro- gram is very competitive, with only a limited number of stu- dents selected from a large pool of applicants each year. Perry will be a member of the University's first doctoral class and will begin the three-year program in August. Perry, a 1994 Bath County High School alum and former Miss Bath County, has a Master's in Adult & Higher Education and a Bachelor's in Lesfie Perry Psychology from Morehead State University. She is current- ly a certified riding Instructor for 7th Heaven Farm, and is a Board of Director and previous Vice-President of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed associa- tion in Lewisburg, TN. She is the daughter of Byrd and Christie Perry of Salt Lick.
