Cemetery
Sometime between Father's
Day and July 1, 2006, the
GreenCrest Cemetery off of
Oberline Street in Owingsville
was entered and vandalized.
Damaged involved head-
stones toppled, flowers from
wreaths, vases and potted plants
dismantled and thrown through-
out the grounds, crosses
knocked over and broken, and
flags honoring veterans snapped
and tossed.
The desecration was discov-
ered by Tiffany Taul of Mount
Sterling. She goes to the ceme-
tery every few months to visit
the grave of her mother, Olive
Ann Reed Tanl, other family
members and friends.
Taul said the cemetery was
looking really great after the
Job Corp of Frenchburg came
and restored the stones markers.
The oldest grave is from 1894.
Taul said that the families
will get together and clean up
the cemetery, but the scar creat-
ed by this atrocity will remain
for a long time.
A red car and a motorcycle
have been seen in the area.
Owingsville police are investi-
gating the vandalism. If you
have any information please
call the dispatch office at 606
674 2006.
