Many of you may know me from the years I spent working as a substi- tute teacher or at various businesses within our com- munity. For those of you that do not recognize my name you might be more familiar with my family. My father is Mitch Green and my grand- parents are Junior and Max- ine Green. They have lived in Bath County all their lives and in our district for the past 30 years. I have been mar- ried to my wife Brandi for eight years. We have been blessed with four wonderful children: Madison, Teygan, Logan and Bentley. My wife and I encourage them to do their best in school and be active in after school activi- ties. Education is very impor- tant to me. So much that I dedicated a whole career toward teaching. In 2006 I graduated from Morehead State University with a Bach- elor's degree in Secondary Education. In 2011 I com- pleted a Masters degree in Special Education. Currently I am in the process of com- pleting a Masters degree in Business Administration. As your next school board member I would love the opportunity to represent each and every one of you. I believe ALL children in our county are entitled to a high quality education. Currently I feel that the attention of our children and their educa- tion has been forgotten. Too many times we have read the news and saw on television the constant arguing and bickering over personal mat- ters from our current board members. It is time that the voters of Bath County elect honest, open-minded and child centered individuals. As adults we set the example aged 12 employees and the daily operators of a level 18 post office. I re- tired July 31 after working 26 years with the USPS. My roots go days in Bath County, where I at- tended school and gradu- ated from BCHS in 1972. I continue to live in Kendall Springs with my husband Donnie and my grand- daughter Allie Byrd. Al- lie is currently a senior at BCHS and I also have oth- er grandchildren that are enrolled in Bath County Schools. I feel that now is the time for me to get in- volved with the issues that are facing Bath Coun- ty Schools. I will work to provide the very best facilities and I want to create a learning environ- ment that will make teach- ers, students, and parents proud of Bath County schools. We need to work together to provide a quality education for the children of Bath County, and more forward and not backwards making this community proud of our school system. I would be honored to serve my community as a member of the Bath County School Board. District 4 Tara Lee Rawlings I am a candidate for the Bath County School Board in District 4 (Owingsville 2 and 3). I am a graduate of Michigan State Univer- sity's College of Agricul- ture and a resident of Bath County for 39 years. I am married to Bath County native James Pressley "Sonny" Rawlings, Jr. Due to health issues; in 2007 I retired after more than 20 years working with youth and parents as Bath County's Extension Agent for 4-H/Youth Develop- ment. As part of that job, I worked with teachers and the school system to pro- vide a wide variety of edu- cational programs within My agenda for office is a simple one. I will keep the ENTIRE Bath County School System's best inter- est at heart. This includes the students, employees, parents and community. I believe this can be accom- plished through leadership, communication, decision making, community par- ticipation and consensus building. A member of the school board must be a team player. We all know that there will be motions and various other issues that every board member will not agree upon. The prob- lem isn't that we disagree, but more importantly how we all as individual board members and community members maintain our com- posure to professionally resolve issues and focus on what is in the best interest of the ENTIRE Bath County School System. My point of contact information is 606- 462-0202 or farley.purvis@ gmail.com. B.A. Franklin & Connie Grimes did not participate District 5 Fay Hart I have taught in the Bath County School system since the early 80's. I spent this time as a Resource Teacher for students with learning disabilities and as a classroom teacher at the Bath County Middle School. I have worked with many of you as stu- dents and as parents of students. During this time I also served on many committees, the Site Based Council and was and Cheryl Miller and Barbara and Edwin Bur- den. My children and I attend the Mt. Sterling First Church of God. I am a graduate of Montgomery County High School, Midway College, and Indiana Wesleyan University. I have been a Registered Nurse for 20 years. The last 14 years, I have been employed at St. Jo- seph Mt. Sterling where I am the nurse manager of the Birthing Center, Infusion and Chemo- therapy Center and the Time Share Clinic. I am running for the office of School Board in District 5 which includes the voting precincts of Owingsville One and Sharpsburg One. This is the first time I have sought a public office and I chose to do so this year because we need a change on the Bath County Board of Educa- tion. I feel it is time to get back to the basics of putting the focus on our children and doing what is best for them. Our children deserve a quali- ty education in a safe en- vironment. There needs to be a culture of excel- lence and professional- ism cultivated among our board members, administrators, educa- tors and our students. As board members, we need to be good stew- ards of the tax payer's money. It is essential that we are efficient with our resources and that we provide our teachers with the resources they need to deliver the best quality education that we can for our children. If I am elected to this office, I will work dili- gently to educate myself on board policies and procedures and ensure that we make decisions based on the needs of our children and our educators. I know how to fence how to vaccinate a calf how to strip tobacco; to control runoff and rotate crops; but don't ask me tc drive a tractor (never a straight shift that I liked) I don't take "because we've always done it like this" the final answer. I figh for the things I believe in and I believe that the farm. ing way of life is a good way to live. Farmers are more protective of the environment; they are re sourceful individuals; the are involved in their com. munity and local causes they take the right to vote seriously; they are patri. uric people; and they are interested in sharing theh knowledge with childrer and others around them I think that farming build , character, patience, hope: and resilience.
