Pre- witt is an assistant coach for the Transylvania Uni- versity women's basket- ball team. A 2012 Centre College graduate, Prewitt had a decorated playing career. She was named fhe 2009 SCAC Newcomer of the Year, 2010 SCAC First Team, two-time SCAC Play- er of the Year (2001, 2012), South Region Player of the Year and Hrst Team All- (2012). Prior to joining the Tran- sylvania coaching staff, Prewitt worked as the head coach for the middle school and freshmen girls' basket- bail teams and assistant coach for the junior var- sity and varsity basketball teams in the Bath County gchooi D/sfrlct, while work- ing as a substitute teacher in the elementary, middle and high schools. For more than 30 years, Kentucky farmers have supported the beef indus- try through a per-head checkoff program. When it began in 1976, the checkoff was 10 cents per head. The passage of the 1985 Farm Bill replaced with state program with a Federal Beef Checkoff program of S1 per head when a beef animal is sold during its lifetime. Half of the money comes back to Kentucky to support state beef promo- tion through the Kentucky Beef Council. When the Federal pro- gram was threa ning to end in 2004, Kentucky pro- ducers overwhelmingly supported reinstating a state checkoff and even an additional checkoff if the Federal program stayed intact. In May 2014, the Ken- tucky Cattlemen's Associa- tion appointed a Kentucky Beef CheckoffTask Force. This group made an ap- plication to the Kentucky Board of Agriculture re- questing a referendum to add an additional $1 state beef checkoff program in the state.
