Hwy. 60 East, Owingsville 606-261-9263 IS GOD A TYRANT? A few days ago I read an article in Gospel Minutes in which a man said "Satan has tried to prove God a ty- rant, one who shall see the wicked burn throughout eternity." Clem Thurman, the editor gave a very good answer from the Bible as he quoted Jesus' teaching regarding hell (Matthew 13:41, 42; 25:41, 46; Mark 9:48; etc.) There is no doubt that eternal punish- ment in the flames of hell awaits the wicked. But does that make God a ty- rant? Let's reason together about this subject. Everybody knows John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Does that sound like a ty- rant to you? If God had not sent Jesus into the world all people would perish because "all have sinned" (Romans 3:23). If God were a tyrant Jesus would have stayed home and He would not have died forhad heeded the warning"? our sins.
