Senior
volunteers entertained
The senior volunteers from the
Kentucky Center for Traditional
Music. This event took place on
Thursday, February 21, 2002, at the
Perkins Center in Morehead. Repre-
sentation was there from Bath, Mont-
gomery and Rowan counties. The
theme for the wellness this month
was music. The majority of the audi-
ence were native Kentuckians, and
being members of the older popula-
tion, they remembered when fami-
lies played music together as one of
their main sources of entertainment.
The musicians were pleasantly sur-
prised to have requests from a very
knowledgeable audience on Appa-
lachian traditional music. Two Bath
County participants even got up and
danced to the peppy music. Thanks
to Juanita Jones and Geneva Gross.
The musicians who entertained were:
Jesse Wells, Sandy Knipp and Don
Rigsby, director of the newly estab-
lished Kentucky Center for Tradi-
tional Music.
Willa Crabtree, a Bath County
RSVP volunteer led the group
through a series of chair exercises to
promote flexibility and overall well
being. Willa is a retired registered
nurse and lives with her husband
Dale, in Bath County.
Everyone enjoyed a potluck lunch.
After the lunch, a group took part in
a quiz on "Aging Myths or Truths".
Then they were led down memory
lane as they were asked if they re-
membered many and various things
that took place in the 1940's.
