News Outlook Your Hometown Newspaper September 05, 2013 - 3 JOHN PAUL SHORT JO RHODES ALLEN WILLIE CLAY "BILL" SORRELL John Paul Short, hus- band ofVirgaleen Karrick Short, of Mr. Sterling, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013. He was an 86 year old native of Bath County, son of the late John Wesley and Eulalia McNabb Short, a retired carpenter from Warren Builders after 35 years, and a member of Gateway Christian Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Land Blevins of Bath County, a son, Gary Wayne (Kar- en) Short of Mr. Ster- ling, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruby McGlothin of Sherton, Arkansas, and Elizabeth Gibbs of North Middle-town, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service 11:00 Tuesday at Mach- pelah Cemetery Chapel. Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. JACK NEAL MOORE Jack Neal Moore, 82, of 371 Bypass Road, Salt Lick,.KY, passed away Friday August 30, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness. Born July 8, 1931 at Erwin, TN the son of the late John G. and Sarah Marie Price Moore. He was retired from the United States Army hav- ing served during the Ko- rean conflict and the Viet- nam era. Survivors include his wife, Xe Thi Moore, 1 daughter, Jaclyn Tuyen Werder and her husband Charles of Murrell's Inlet, SC, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. TAYLOR E. Taylor, 93, of Owingsville, passed Charles Steven Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana, Keith Taylor of Owings- ville, Brent (Deliria) Taylor of Atlanta, Geor- gia; 1 daughter Penny Wilhams of New York; 1 sister Wilma Vesperman of Soloman's Island, MD; 7 grandchildren Ariel Williams, Leah Taylor, Luke Taylor, Kendall Jo Rhodes Allen, age 86 of Frenchburg, Ky passed away Monday in the Edgewood Estates Nurs- ing Home, Frenchburg, Ky. Funeral arrangements are pending. ALBERT HERALD RATLIFF Age 83, of Lewisburg, passed away at his home on Friday, Au- gust 30, 2013 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Ollie Ratliff; brothers. Willard, Edison, Mar- vin & Wendell Ratliff; sisters, Eunice Taulbee & Marie Yocum & by 2 infant brothers. He was a devoted family man, a loving father, a man of his word and he didn't know a stranger. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He received his bachelor's & master's degrees from Morehead State Univ. and was a member of their baseball team. He then taught for a short time in Menifee County KY and then spent the rest of his teaching ca- ver; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ratliff and numer- ous other relatives & many friends. Funeral services was held 1:30 PM Wed. Sep. 4 at the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. Herald will be re- membered as someone who started with lit- tle, never complained, found humor always and would reach out to help a friend and take the time to tell you a great story.
